The Grand Duchy of Dauphin is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by a crowd of midgets with an even hand, and notable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed population of 2.857 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although Commerce and the Environment are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Berlin. The average income tax rate is 95%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Information Technology.

Torture is illegal, parents must choose their children's names from a government-mandated master list, skateparks can be found in every city, and the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting. Crime is totally unknown. Dauphin's national animal is the Liger, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Lira.
