The Domestic Union of Dardice is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Andrew Connolly with an iron fist, and renowned for its parental licensing program. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.943 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The minute government, or what there is of one, devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Seraphin. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Pizza Delivery industries.

Most of the nation's wealthy aristocrats are dentists, heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste, city sidewalks are crowded with overweight people, and the children of Dardice are often remarked upon for their cheery attitude to extreme violence. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate. Dardice's national animal is the Buffalo, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Catholic, and its currency is the Dardican.
