Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 6.595 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The large government concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Seraphin. The average income tax rate is 27%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Woodchip Exports.

Students are known to arrive at school in their pyjamas, young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, the people elect the Supreme Court justices directly, and postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Dardice's national animal is the Buffalo, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Catholic, and its currency is the Dardican.
