The Optimistische Pessimisten of Dangertk is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by The Puppeteer with an even hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 5.846 billion enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Law & Order, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zaandam. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 42%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Long arduous trials are held for the most trivial of offences, drunk drivers are sentenced to death, university graduates and new home-owners toil in labour camps to work off their debts, and military funding has been stripped back. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Dangertk's national animal is the beast, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Pessimism, and its currency is the bottle.
