The Oppressed People of Danger-tk is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by The Godfather with an iron fist, and remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.294 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Dangerous City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 37%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

A large percentage of the poor live from cradle to grave in subterranean wage slavery, organ donation is compulsory, new religious sects are squashed immediately by the government, and the government has the power to seize property at will. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem. Danger-tk's national animal is the lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Nature calls, and its currency is the guilder.
