The Royal Lands of Dakolatia is a massive, cultured nation, notable for its complete lack of public education. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.192 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals is mainly concerned with Commerce, although Defence and Healthcare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Amestris. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Soda Sales, and Book Publishing industries.

Angst-filled teenagers are rushing off to buy government bonds for some odd reason, healthcare funding has been cut, postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation, and democratic debates have been removed from the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Dakolatia's national animal is the Hydra, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Nick.

Dakolatia is ranked 24th in Antarctic Oasis and 13,367th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 3 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
