The Enlightened Empire of Crownguard is a gargantuan, genial nation, ruled by High Guardian with an even hand, and renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate population of 18.913 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Defence and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Artania. The average income tax rate is 79%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.

The people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth, protesters are up in arms over new nuclear power stations, commercial jingles have been ham-handedly forced into world renowned symphonies, and political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Crownguard's national animal is the damn hippie, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Church of the Aeon, and its currency is the Imperial Energy Credit.

Crownguard is ranked 1st in International Democratic Union and 1,271st in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 10 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
