The United States of Crapolica is a gargantuan, genial nation, ruled by Meow East with an even hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 20.262 billion are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Crapolica City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 75%. A healthy private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.

Retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, prisons are crowded with possible terrorist suspects, legislators work 24/7 due to an influx of single-issue bills, and an enormous health awareness programme is underway. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Crapolica's national animal is the dapan, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the yungram.
