Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.502 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Albionpool. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Gambling.

Museums stand half-empty as all foreign exhibits are returned to their countries of origin, glittering new sports stadiums adorn every city and town, children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "Love and peace!" as a way of life, and conductors wield diamond-encrusted batons to fit in with their freshly gilded surroundings. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Cotdelapoms's national animal is the Ours Polaire, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Dollar.
