The Commonwealth of Coriolis is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by President Boreas with an even hand, and notable for its irreverence towards religion. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.975 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although the Environment and Social Equality are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Espiral. The average income tax rate is 79%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Information Technology and Gambling.

The government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion, politicians are often found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, all new "spies" are fifteen-year-old acne-ridden kids on computers, and the government seizes private property for the 'good of the people'. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Coriolis's national animal is the Tiger, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Maravedi.

Coriolis is ranked 4,231st in the West Pacific and 103,899th in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring -2 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
