The Free Society of Coolidgestein is a massive, devout nation, ruled by President Calvin Coolidge with a fair hand, and remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.912 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals is mainly concerned with Defence, although Religion & Spirituality and Law & Order are secondary priorities. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Automobile Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports industries.

Penurious citizens die from easily remedied ailments because they aren't 'taking enough initiative', commuter vessels have trouble staying afloat due to increased passengers, hawks with strange deformities like three eyes and tentacles have been seen prancing through the countryside where industrial waste is dumped, and hundreds of thousands of convicts work as slaves in Coolidgestein's many privately-owned prisons. Crime is crippling. Coolidgestein's national animal is the hawk, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

Coolidgestein is ranked 34th in Libertatem and 19,541st in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring 3 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
