The Constitutional Republic of Conservalandem is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by President Christian William Lee with a fair hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 3.964 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Burkeville. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Book Publishing industries.

Army rations are served on silver platters, the government has cut its subsidies for all special interest groups, 'The Anti-Government Hour' is a popular programme on many of Conservalandem's radio stations, and criminals are put to death while cuddling their favourite teddy bear. Crime is a problem. Conservalandem's national animal is the Jaguar, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Capital Mark.

Conservalandem is ranked 20th in Capitalist Libertarian Freedom Region and 107,835th in the world for Most Conservative, scoring 33 on the Bush-Santorum Dawning Terror Index.
