The Empire of Common Territories is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Emperor JC with a fair hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 3.49 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Empire City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 63%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Lending firms are subject to strict government regulations, notable individuals are granted land and titles, all telephone traffic is monitored for 'national security reasons', and scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Common Territories's national animal is the Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Imperial Dollar.

Common Territories is ranked 2nd in The Empire of Common Territories and 34,519th in the world for Most Influential, scoring 16 on the Soft Power Disbursement Rating.
