The Incorporated States of Commersia is a colossal, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 7.422 billion enjoy frequent elections, which are uniformly corrupted by big-spending corporations buying politicians who best suit their interests.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Law & Order, with areas such as Social Equality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Woodchip Exports industries.

Commersia's navy has been named the scourge of the seven thousand seas, urban high-volume mailers now receive their mail via chauffer-driven limousines, many of the country's largest dumps can be seen from space, and most governmental positions are filled by zealous nationalists. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Commersia's national animal is the goldbug, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the simoleon.
