The Borderlands of Colymbus is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.376 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Social Welfare and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Colymbus City. Income tax is unheard of. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government is avowedly atheist, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, the government's official stance on religion is that it is so very silly, and the new prison system is crowding up at an alarming rate. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Colymbus's national animal is the common guillemot, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the gem.

Colymbus is ranked 78th in the region and 5,241st in the world for Most Godforsaken.
