The Kingdom of Coeurleon is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, cynical population of 659 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sainte-Elisabeth. The average income tax rate is 43%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is led by the Woodchip Exports industry, followed by Information Technology and Uranium Mining.

The nation's first space rocket -- sponsored by Pepsi and shaped like an enormous soda bottle -- is being developed, Coeurleon has designated Sainte-Elisabeth as its capital city, people reciting Shakespeare have become a common sight, and rumours have it that a secret police is responsible for the recent spate of missing persons. Crime is totally unknown. Coeurleon's national animal is the Lion, and its currency is the Cœur.

Coeurleon is ranked 306th in Europe and 77,046th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -2 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
