Overview • PeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Red Republic of Clayworth is a huge, genial nation, ruled by Chairman Goldstien with a fair hand, and notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 882 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Welfare and the Environment are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Leibesfreud. The average income tax rate is 87%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Gambling is outlawed, the government is using tax revenues to provide jobs for the poor, the police crack down on tax evaders without mercy, and conductors wield diamond-encrusted batons to fit in with their freshly gilded surroundings. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Clayworth's national animal is the White Wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Liffle.

Clayworth is ranked 167th in The Internationale and 97,836th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -7 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
