The Federal Republic of Chillerton is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and notable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate population of 1.919 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Equality, Social Welfare, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Hempford. The average income tax rate is 86%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Same-sex marriages are increasingly common, all major public areas are watched by police surveillance cameras, the government seizes all major gold finds, and the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources. Crime is totally unknown. Chillerton's national animal is the Lynx, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Tera.
