The Woeful Abyss of Chicago2 is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Salad Barbarian with an even hand, and notable for its suspicion of poets. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 14.754 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Fiendish Fortress. The average income tax rate is 68%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.

Motorists must pay to enter inner-cities during peak hours, an increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents, citizens receive notices of disenfranchisement along with their parking tickets, and vets have been drafted in to help "fix" those who fail the parental license exam. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Chicago2's national animal is the Undead beetle, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Obey Authority, and its currency is the souls of orphans.

Chicago2 is ranked 7th in A Nice Warm Cave and 117,032nd in the world for Most Extreme, scoring 7 on the Paul-Nader Subjective Decentrality Index.
