The Democratic Republic of Chedonia is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 20.427 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Charon City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

All major public areas are watched by police surveillance cameras, protests are legal but strictly supervised, hundreds of thousands of convicts work as slaves in Chedonia's many privately-owned prisons, and cars are banned from built-up areas. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Chedonia's national animal is the seal, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the chardan.
