The Democratic Republic of Chedonia is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Leader with a fair hand, and renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 22.791 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Charon City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

The government is spending millions on renovating the public transportation system, there's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt, an increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents, and protests are legal but strictly supervised. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Chedonia's national animal is the seal, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the chardan.

Chedonia is ranked 1st in Australia and 45th in the world for Longest Average Lifespans, scoring 101 on the Enoch Index.
