The Sovereign Military Order of Central Francia is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by High Mason Balon Pendragon with an iron fist, and notable for its irreverence towards religion. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.287 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Citadel. The average income tax rate is 97%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Tourism and Gambling.

Meat-eating is frowned upon, the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, and mobile phone masts are being erected all over the country. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Central Francia's national animal is the Lynx, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Central Francian Dinar.
