The Colony of Cedar Hall City-State is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by Jay Myers with an even hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 6.174 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Cedar Hall. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

Private business has started paving paradises and putting up parking lots, citizens are forced to donate blood once every three months, the internet has been placed under government control, and citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Cedar Hall City-State's national animal is the cat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the Platinum Dollar.
