Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.808 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tenar as Ni Hive. The average income tax rate is 96%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Owning a tractor is widely regarded as an essential prerequisite to most government positions, the nation's new foreign policy of 'very disproportionate retribution' has its neighbors on edge, the public are free to vote for whomever the government wants in office, and conscientious objectors are hanged as traitors. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Casta Nal's national animal is the Ferrus, its national religion is Balinism, and its currency is the Karan.
