Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The enormous government concentrates mainly on Commerce, although Defence and Education are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Irish Harbor. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 14%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Information Technology industries.

Airship use has soared while property values beneath their routes have plummeted, a punitive tax has been placed on harmful emissions, drug distribution is tightly controlled by the government, and rag-wearing teachers are often mistaken for homeless people. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Canajoharie Island's national animal is the Predator, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dollar.
