The Great Empire of Bulgariq is a huge, safe nation, ruled by General Jivkov with an iron fist, and renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 762 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sofia. The average income tax rate is 49%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Book Publishing and Tourism.

Politicians are often seen with soldiers pointing guns at their heads, General Jivkov has been self-declared as the Most Supreme Magnificent Overlord of Everything You Ever Saw, vanity is considered the eighth cardinal virtue, and parents live in fear of governmental 'child protection' squads. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Bulgariq's national animal is the Lion, and its currency is the BGN.
