The Liberal Democratic Republic of Brydog is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by President Walter Wolfenhowser with a fair hand, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 16.798 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although the Environment and Commerce are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Liberty City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 76%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Terrified neighbors cower behind concertina wire and machine gun nests, wealthy students ride to school past mendicant dropouts, the "Underwear of Women in Power" issue of The Liberty City Times is sold out, and teenagers stay out into the wee hours of the morning "stargazing". Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Brydog's national animal is the coyote, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Republic Dollar.

Brydog is ranked 1st in Liberal International and 9,595th in the world for Largest Public Sector, scoring 20 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
