The Confederacy of Bowlartz is a huge, devout nation, ruled by Fran Tarkenton with an even hand, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed population of 899 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Outposity. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 43%. A healthy private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Customs turn away those considered to have an unfavourable ethnicity, the nation's new foreign policy of 'very disproportionate retribution' has its neighbors on edge, Bowlartz has been recently classified as an international menace after 'liberating' several nearby territories, and a crusade against barbaric religious practices has begun. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Bowlartz's national animal is the Bearded Clam, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Looney.

Bowlartz is ranked 7th in Outpost Uber Alles and 38,817th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 22 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
