The Confederate States of Blumaria is a massive, devout nation, ruled by President Jacob Blanco with an iron fist, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.168 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The small, corrupt, pro-business government devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Jakobsburg. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining industries.

Photographers have to apply for a license to photograph President Jacob Blanco, Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed, armed police units patrol the roads late at night, and Blumaria is notorious for its citizens' infidelity. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is pervasive. Blumaria's national animal is the Great Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the Blumsmark.
