The Democratic States of Benjamia is a huge, cultured nation, ruled by Premier Zinevich with an even hand, and remarkable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate population of 828 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Equality and the Environment are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The People's Metropolis. The average income tax rate is 90%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Drunk drivers are sent to rehabilitation paid for by the government, the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting, the importance of winning Olympic gold medals is indoctrinated from an early age, and CEOs can't hear the term 'Fire Sale' without bursting into tears. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Benjamia's national animal is the Elk, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Benjamian Dollar.

Benjamia is ranked 142nd in USSR and 98,213th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -7 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
