The Confederate States of Belligerent Wizards is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.978 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Education, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Eregeon. The average income tax rate is 71%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

People are moving into treehouses in record numbers, the recent ban on computers is causing havoc throughout the nation, a crusade against barbaric religious practices has begun, and the government funds large training centres to turn Beavers into functioning members of society. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Belligerent Wizards's national animal is the Beaver, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Wizarding Currency.
