Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 7.71 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Direshield. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 20%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Automobile Manufacturing.

The nation refuses to provide international aid, the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, only the rich can afford the latest medical innovations, and school uniforms are compulsory. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. BeaconFlat's national animal is the Charizard, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Imperialian Christianity, and its currency is the Halicarnassus.
