The Principality of Bazborough is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by George Nathaniel Curzon with an even hand, and notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 7.98 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, the Environment, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Samnium. The average income tax rate is 75%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Prisons are crowded with possible terrorist suspects, the military frequently holds bake sales to raise funds, fewer people are bathing as citizens must show ration stamps before they can turn on their faucets, and inheritance tax has recently been abolished. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Bazborough's national animal is the Elephant, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Anglicanism, and its currency is the Denarius.

Bazborough is ranked 434th in Europe and 94,591st in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -5 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
