The Republic of Bankstown City is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and renowned for its ban on automobiles. The compassionate population of 5.988 billion Bankstown Cityians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Bankstown CBD. The average income tax rate is 73%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Glittering new sports stadiums adorn every city and town, builders spend more time negotiating "tasteful architecture" than on actual construction, vile black smog from coal power plants has enveloped several major urban centres, and politicians are often seen with soldiers pointing guns at their heads. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Bankstown City's national animal is the Ibis, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Australian Dollar.

Bankstown City is ranked 6th in Central Pacific Empire and 24,174th in the world for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 120 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
