The Free Republic of Bai Lung is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 13.646 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 50%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Soda Sales and Automobile Manufacturing.

'Mountain Doobie' is widely regarded as the nation's favourite drink, cities are engulfed by smog, police officers have been re-kitted with designer uniforms and gold plated handcuffs, and a typical fast food menu item could serve a small army. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Bai Lung's national animal is the Tiger Pig and Man, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Free BL Dollar.

Bai Lung is ranked 5th in The East Pacific and 283rd in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 18 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
