Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 1.53 billion enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Education, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Bolgred. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy, the children of Avienion are often remarked upon for their cheery attitude to extreme violence, eminent domain has been abolished, and urban citizens are forced onto public transport while rural citizens ride horses and buggies. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Avienion's national animal is the cheetah, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the norbus.
