The Empire of Aveonia is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Emperor Julian Settemio with an iron fist, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 4.274 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Aveonople. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 30%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Information Technology, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

Rumours have it that a secret police is responsible for the recent spate of missing persons, bicyclists are banned from major roads, shanty towns are forming in the suburbs of major cities, and conscientious objectors are hanged as traitors. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aveonia's national animal is the Golden Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Veiari.

Aveonia is ranked 16th in United Federation of Planets and 20,988th in the world for Most Influential, scoring 23 on the Soft Power Disbursement Rating.
