The Empire of AUSTIN EMPIRE is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Austin Hesse with an iron fist, and notable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 1.969 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Chaos City. The average income tax rate is 53%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Space shuttles regularly launch rubbish into space, citizens are tied down and forced to watch educational videos on empathy, politicians are often found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, and priests are being drafted by the church load. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. AUSTIN EMPIRE's national animal is the Liger, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Baptist, and its currency is the Dollar.
