The poor are often seen pale and dizzy after selling their blood to make ends meet, a cyber-war between file sharers and the music industry formats hard drives across the country, radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, and pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Aurumica's national animal is the California Golden Bear, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Aurumia.
