The New Republic of Aurat is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Chief of State Leo Garat with an even hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 3.115 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although Law & Order and Defence are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Republic City. The average income tax rate is 64%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

The welfare administration’s new sweeping authority has forced the poor and needy to shop from pre-approved grocery lists, the government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion, employers may fire workers without giving any reason, and a fashion designer has been arrested for inciting hatred after claiming redheads couldn't pull off vermillion. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aurat's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dollar.
