The People's Republic of Askrakistann is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Comrade with a fair hand, and notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.244 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Derp. The average income tax rate is 87%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The new hit series "Askrakistann's Got Trauma" has corporate executives fleeing the country, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, the "Underwear of Women in Power" issue of The Derp Times is sold out, and midnight pizza breaks are common among the work-from-home population. Crime is totally unknown. Askrakistann's national animal is the Squirrel, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Turd.
