The Armed Republic of Ariyas is a massive, safe nation, ruled by The Invisible Pink Unicorn with a fair hand, and renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 2.24 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Education and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of AGBX-1 'Bigwig Bunker'. The average income tax rate is 69%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Tourism industries.

Schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, Ariyan Black-Winged Albratrosss are considered a delicacy, and the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ariyas's national animal is the Ariyan Black-Winged Albratross, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Ariyan Credit.
