The Kaiserreich of Arcine is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Emperor Dietrich Arcine VI with an iron fist, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 8.654 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Neu Arcanium. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 57%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining industries.

The nanny industry has had a boom after maternity leave was recently banned, families consisting of more than three people are forced to split up, military spending recently hit a new high, and the nation leads Osiris in per capita stalking. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Arcine's national animal is the wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Arcinism, and its currency is the Reichsmark.

Arcine is ranked 12th in Osiris and 803rd in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring 17 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
