The Republic of Archontia is a massive, genial nation, remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.552 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Education and Healthcare are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 77%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Consuming ecstasy is a common rite of passage, the government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, a ban on unsolicited cold calling in all forms is in effect, and the government seizes the property of the recently deceased. Crime is totally unknown. Archontia's national animal is the moose, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the lat.
