The Sultanate of Ar-Rayyan is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Sultan Muhammad Al-Azhar with an even hand, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its compassionate population of 7.186 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Al-Midan. The average income tax rate is 99%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Citizens wishing to leave the country must surrender half their wealth to the government, a weakened police force struggles to maintain law and order, noises louder than a whisper have been prohibited by law, and oil executives can be seen reluctantly cleaning oil-soaked birds. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ar-Rayyan's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Islam, and its currency is the Riyal.

Ar-Rayyan is ranked 2nd in United Empire of Islam and 5,074th in the world for Highest Drug Use, scoring 113 on the Pineapple Fondness Rating.
