Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.665 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Marinland. The average income tax rate is 68%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Book Publishing, and Gambling industries.

The government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, anti-government political posters adorn every building like wallpaper, voting is compulsory, and organ donation is compulsory. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aquophia's national animal is the Shark, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dron.
