The Union of Apit is a colossal, genial nation, ruled by Gemini with an even hand, and remarkable for its restrictive gun laws. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 6.402 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Education and Public Transport are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of SMK Tun Sardon. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 69%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Guns are banned, people are arrested for looking too sternly at whales, Apit's schoolchildren are manufactured into a segregated bunch of soldiers, religious zealots, and computer technicians, and all guns must be registered. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Apit's national animal is the kambing, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the jambbit.

Apit is ranked 117th in Europe and 10,162nd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 13 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
