The Environmentalists of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by The Hippie Environmentalist with a fair hand, and remarkable for its ban on automobiles. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.654 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Palm Canyon. The average income tax rate is 88%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

It is illegal for police officers to carry out searches due to strict privacy laws, legislators work 24/7 due to an influx of single-issue bills, computer users are buried daily in thousands of unsolicited emails, and suit-clad businessmen have been taking advantage of the relaxed welfare qualifications by shopping with food stamps. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park's national animal is the desert bighorn sheep, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Desert Environmentalism, and its currency is the dollar.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is ranked 3rd in desert and 97,273rd in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -6 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
