The Republic of Angottiad is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 629 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Commerce, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sdrawkcab. The average income tax rate is 79%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Soda Sales, and Book Publishing industries.

Cyber-crime and tin-foil hat sales are both increasing at record rates, several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, the government is spending millions on alternative clean-burning fuels, and Angottiad is notorious for its citizens' infidelity. Crime is totally unknown. Angottiad's national animal is the Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Dollar.
