The Apostolic Kingdom of Angleter is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by King Joseph IV with an even hand, and renowned for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 8.812 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Book Publishing.

Corporate lobbying has been outlawed, citizens must pay to enjoy Angleter's pristine beaches, the fire protection service is wholly government-funded, and school uniforms are compulsory. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. Angleter's national animal is the Bulldog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Roman Catholicism, and its currency is the Pound.
