The People's Republic of Alversia is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Sammi Owens with a fair hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 13.153 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Illesia City. The average income tax rate is 93%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

A large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, crime is on the rise as DNA sampling has been all but outlawed, the people elect the Supreme Court justices directly, and the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Alversia's national animal is the Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Sedar.
