The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Social Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 12%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing, Door-to-door Insurance Sales, and Basket Weaving industries.

The alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, surveillance cameras are banned, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, and the government is avowedly atheist. Crime is a problem. Alonso de Salazar's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.
